The same arithmetic as the paid pack

The calculation below is a port of the working-day function our €490 pack uses, so it produces the same dates. What it cannot do is give you the Appendix D file structure, the per-worker completeness matrix or the mock-audit walkthrough. The guide sets out the duties in full.

1. What kind of event is it?

Worker events: non-attendance, unauthorised absence, early termination, significant change to role, salary or location. Sponsor changes: name, ownership, size classification, key personnel, address.

2. What date did you become aware?

The day any responsible person in the business knew — not the day it reached the Level 1 User.

Nothing leaves your browser. No analytics, no cookies, no network requests once the page has loaded.

How the counting works

The day of the event itself does not count. Counting starts on the next working day, which is how the guidance expresses ‘within N working days of becoming aware’.

Why the answer is deliberately conservative

The calculator excludes weekends only. It does not know your bank holidays, and it does not ask, because guessing would be worse than being explicit.

The error only ever runs one way

Because bank holidays are working-day exclusions we are not applying, the real deadline can only ever be later than the date shown — never earlier. A date from this tool is therefore always safe to work to. If you are close to the wire, check the bank holidays for your window and you may find you have more room than we said.

The date that matters is awareness

Both clocks run from the day the sponsor becomes aware, and the sponsor is aware when any responsible person is — not when the Level 1 User is told. If a line manager knew three weeks ago, enter that date, not today’s. It will be an uncomfortable answer, and it is the right one.

No analytics, no cookies, no network requests once the page has loaded. The calculation is JavaScript on your device. Nothing you type here — including anything identifying a worker — reaches us, which is as it should be for personal data of this kind.
